PanterA - Buenos Aires. Parque Sarmiento 1998

PAN "FUCKING" TERA fue tal vez la banda más importante del metal de la década del 90. Las guitarras chillonas de Dimebag Darrell, los gritos de Phil Anselmo, la potencia de Vinnie Paul en la bateria y Rex Brown en el bajo, que acompañaba dignamente al resto, lograron un combo salvaje casi único.
Visitaron la Argentina 4 veces, esta fue la última de ellas y es imposible de olvidar para los que estuvimos allí. Fueron 2 noches tremendas en el Parque Sarmiento, de la ciudad de Buenos Aires. Este es el especial completo que hizo Much Music, en su momento, donde hay temas en vivo y una breve entrevista.

“Ni que fuéramos Guns & Roses” dice Manza mientras arroja una botella de agua al público. Tiene razón: es jueves, estamos en Niceto un local del barrio de Palermo de la Capital Federal. No se parece ni un poco al Whisky A Gogo o a un estadio de fútbol de esos con tribunas enormes. Aquí no hay viejos hits reproducidos por un tipo que perdió su gracia hace rato, no hay una lista interminable de caprichos que el productor debió cumplir para que la gran estrella se sienta cómoda en su camarín decorado para la ocasión. No hay un público ansioso por escuchar solo aquellas canciones que le recuerdan a su pubertad. Esto es otra cosa, esto es nuevo, es subterráneo. Acá hay actitud, hay ganas, nadie piensa en cuantos ceros mas se incrementará su cuenta bancaria al término de la noche, sobre todo porque eso no sucederá y porque no es lo que importa. Acá hay gente que hace lo que le gusta a pesar de todo. Hay gente que la rema desde hace tiempo y no bajan los brazos ante las adversidades. Acá están dos de las mejores bandas nacionales que pululan por la escena que tuvieron la buena idea de presentarse juntas. Esto se trata de eso y es suficiente.

A raíz de la reciente salida de su autobiografía, Scottito se mando este disco de covers para acompañar el lanzamiento de la misma. Debo decir que algunas versiones son muy buenas, como el toque country-Creedence de "Dead Flowers" (Stones, la tienen adentro); el power de "Frances Farmer...", los de Bowie (que fan que sos, Scott), pero me parecen GENIALES las versiones de "Let Down" y "Waitin' For  A Superman".
